The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate month end close; reconciling subsidiary general ledger accounts; global field office accounting and administrative duties - these include monitoring and analyzing field office expenditures, program budgets, updating cost reporting schedules, reviewing and preparing payment and wire transfer requests, and journal entries. They will report to the Financial Controller.
The individual must possess progressive knowledge of accounting concepts and principles, attention to detail, the ability to critically analyze, work autonomously, and provide accurate, timely, information.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for month-end close of subsidiary ledgers and general ledgers, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls and integrity, suitability, accuracy, and timeliness of internal information systems.
- Responsible for global accounting from field offices.
- Review field office expenditures reports for accuracy, compliance, and reconciliation to field office bank accounts. Collaborate with field and HQ personnel to complete all financial reporting to donors.
- Review supporting documents for field office expense reports to ensure accuracy before recording to the accounting system.
- Monitor program funding and availability and provide timely fund requests; monitor actual expenditures against budget and funding obligations.
- Provide feedback to the field offices with recommendation to improve efficiency.
- Review grant agreement and update reporting and fund request schedules.
- Record and track expenses and donations.
- Prepare audit schedules and assist with the annual audit process, and responding to audit request and inquiries.
- Assist with the reconciliation of general ledger and monthly expense allocations.
- Maintain a standard filing system.
- Provide administrative support for training programs.
- Serve as back up to the Controller on accounts payable, cash management, payroll, and federal drawdowns.
Time and Attendance (Replicon)
- Track and monitor completion of timesheet submission and approval and assist with timesheet errors and submission issues.
- Track and update projects.
- Generate reports related to timesheet, projects, and time allocations, as requested, and train staff on how to generate reports.
- Point of contact with Replicon representative on renewals and licensing.
- Administrator for any changes in the system including validation and restriction rules.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with diverse staff.
- Fluency in English, written and oral; skills in a second language are desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of MIP or similar accounting software preferred.
- Proven technical ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Adobe.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, interpersonal skills.
- Able to extract the relevant points and critical information from complex documents.
- Experience in federal grants, and knowledge of US Federal funding requirements, 2 CFR Part 200.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting from accredited institution of higher education.
- Minimum of 5 years of prior experience with an international and/or non-profit organization.
- CPA or CPA candidate required
