Reprinting and Republishing IWPR articles

Every year, thousands of IWPR's articles are syndicated, reprinted and republished in hundreds of publications all over the world. IWPR are happy to provide these articles cost-free in most cases, and, as long as the conditions outlined below are met, you are welcome to reprint and republish any article in any language from our six publications.

Republishing Online

In most cases, the IWPR article may be republished free of charge in an online publication. Written permission (via email, fax or postal letter) must be obtained from IWPR prior to republication by contacting the Managing Editor

Formatting requirements
Acknowledgement must include the author's name, the article title that is hyperlinked to the story, a canonical link and reference to IWPR

Republishing in a Print Periodical

The IWPR article may be republished free of charge in in a print periodical (newspaper, magazine, etc.), so long as the following conditions are met:

  • Written permission (via email, fax or postal letter) must be obtained prior to republication by contacting the Managing Editor
  • The author must be given proper credit and the author's name must appear prominently with the article
  • The following text must also appear prominently with the piece: "This article originally appeared in [name of news service, see list above], produced by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, iwpr.net"
  • A fax of the republished article in print must be sent to Yigal Chazan, at +44 (0)20 7831 1050, for our recordkeeping. Please make sure the title of the reprinting publication and the date of republication are clearly stated
 
 
 
 

Academic & Non-Profit Institutional Use

The IWPR article may be republished free of charge in print for academic or non-profit institutional use, so long as the following conditions are met:

  • Written permission (via email, fax or postal letter) must be obtained prior to republication by contacting the Managing Editor
  • The author must be given proper credit and the author's name must appear prominently with the article.
  • The following text must also appear prominently with the piece: "This article originally appeared in [name of news service, see list above], produced by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, iwpr.net"

Internal Use by a Private Company

If the article is to be republished for internal use by a private company, there is a charge for this, and the following conditions must be met:

  • Written permission (via email, fax or postal letter) must be obtained prior to republication by contacting the Managing Editor
  • The charge is USD 2 per copy. Please send a list of reprinted material used and a cheque for all copies (denominated in GBP, EUR or USD) to Institute for War & Peace Reporting, 48 Gray's Inn Road, London WC1X 8LT, UK
  • The author must be given proper credit and the author's name must appear prominently with the article
  • The following text must also appear prominently with the piece: "This article originally appeared in [name of IWPR publication], produced by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, iwpr.net"
