Zimbabwe Crisis Reports

The Zimbabwe Crisis Report ran from 2005 to 2010, a period which saw continuing violence perpetrated by President Robert Mugabe’s government against his opponents, and eventually the shaping of a tenuous power-sharing deal.

The project grew out of IWPR’s Southern Africa Good Governance and Media Development Programme,

The Zimbabwe reporting project had three core components – information provision, capacity building and dissemination.

Key aims:

  • to build the skills and capacity of Zimbabwean journalist to report reliably and accurately on political transition, governance and human rights issues;
  • to increase awareness across the southern African region of the Zimbabwean situation and the implications for regional peace, security and economic development;
  • to contributes to the development of regional policy;
  • to promote dialogue, builds bridges within the region;
  • to raise the international profile of Zimbabwe.
