Tiare joined the Institute for War and Peace Reporting in 2005 as an editor and journalism trainer. Prior to IWPR, Tiare worked as an editor and reporter at The Daily Star newspaper in Beirut and at CBS MarketWatch in San Francisco. She covered the conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as an International Reporting Project fellow and has freelanced for many US newspapers and online news organisations. Tiare holds a master's degree in Near Eastern Studies from New York University and a bachelor's degree in journalism from San Francisco State University.
