SUMMARY

IWPR is looking for a Project Coordinator for its project in Georgia. This is an exciting three-year project, which involves working closely with the editors, journalists (both print and radio), and NGO and government sector representatives from different parts of Georgia. The job may involve frequent travel throughout Georgia.

We are looking for an energetic and responsible professional with substantial experience of working in human rights related projects as well as media. He or she should be able to train local journalists, give professional advice to editors and manage the overall running of the project.

The ideal candidate will be a native Georgian speaker who also speaks fluent English, knows Russian, and has substantial experience in project management.

The position starts immediately.

 

FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and report on the project against plans and budgets, delivering the scheduled outputs.
  • Manage the content of editorial and training components of the project.
  • Ensure the delivery of editorial and training outputs.
  • Ensure full and clear communication and coordination with project participants consultants, partners and associates. 

 

MAIN DUTIES

  • Manage project deliverables, partner/beneficiary relations, activity planning and oversight, execution, monitoring and evaluation, reporting.
  • Ensure that all project participants and partners are fully familiar with the project goal, objectives and deliverables.
  • Coordinate project activities in collaboration with field staff, consultants and partners to ensure effective implementation of the project and the delivery of all the listed outputs;
  • Manage, coordinate, report on and oversee the project’s overall activities and its constituent parts.
  • Ensure that project participants, consultants, partners and other stakeholders are properly engaged in the project planning and budgeting process.
  • Working with the Caucasus Regional Director and regional editor: help coordinate, develop and keep track of all initiatives and developments.
  • Plan and produce schedules for workshops, and be in a position to measure performance and therefore to respond with further relevant measures.
  • To work closely with the regional and country editors and the programme director to ensure the timely delivery of donor reports.
  • To manage interrelationships between the overall regional programme and its constituent parts, the countries involved, and those tasked with delivering the work.
  • To be responsible for all logistical issues of the project.
  • To ensure all regional staff and consultants develop and work according to coordinated workplans;
  • To organise, manage and lead all the workshops and meetings envisaged by the project, to measure project progress against strategies and donor commitments;
  • To work with the Caucasus Regional Director in developing and hosting outreach activities and promotional events and meetings related to the project.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience of managing projects for an international NGO
  • Report-writing experience
  • Proven background in delivering media training
  • Native Georgian speaker
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of the Russian language
  • Excellent communications, team-working and organisational skills
  • Ability to liaise effectively with a team of editors and project leaders
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation would be a plus.
