Job Title: Media Consultant/ Trainer

Location: IWPR Projects Worldwide

Reporting to: Country Director/ Programme Manager

Function: To provide media consultancy and/or training to local participants in IWPR projects in conflict and/or post-conflict areas around the world.

Main Duties:

Specific duties will vary depending on the exact nature of the post, but are likely to include some of the following:

  • Providing media consultancy/ training to local participants in accordance with IWPR project objectives.
  • Preparing course outline and writing training manuals.
  • Preparing training materials.
  • Delivering training sessions in local language or with translator.
  • Editing contributions of local participants in conjunction with Editorial Team in UK.
  • Advising on equipment purchases and other technical issues.
  • As needed, assisting in conducting general journalism workshops.
  • Working closely with partners, NGOs and local journalists.
  • Supervising local training staff.
  • Providing reports on training carried out for submission to donors.
  • Assisting in the development of further IWPR initiatives.
  • Representing IWPR with donors, partner organizations and the wider international community.
  • Ensuring that relevant procedures and policies are in place and are implemented.


Requirements:

  • Experience implementing training programs or providing media consultancy.
  • Contemporary industry based experience that brings relevancy to training and offers solutions to problems faced by trainees.
  • Experience working in at least two different regions and track record in delivering successful training, endorsed by donors and local partners.
  • Regional expertise relevant to IWPR’s projects.
  • Media Skills relevant to IWPR’s projects; TV, Radio, Print, and increasingly New Media (Internet).
  • Proven experience delivering training results that satisfied requirements by donors/ partners.
  • Experience providing reports and recommendations to donors/ local partners.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different cultures, hostile environments.
