Profile: A decision-maker with exceptional understanding and experience of driving modern media organisations. S/he will have a well-proven ability to manage complex multi-disciplinary projects in a multi-cultural environment.

Function:
To be responsible for the day to day management of IWPR programme in country, inclusive of managing local staff and international consultants; ensuring delivery against all programme activities, financial probity in field office, timely and accurate reporting (narrative & financial), and the development of new programmes for IWPR in country; representing the organisation at a local and international level, ensuring appropriate and effective communications across the IWPR network.
Main Duties:
- Implement programmes according to work plans and grant commitments, ensuring timely filing of narrative and expenses reporting.
- Implement programmes according to budget and agreed targets for field, Headquarters and Overhead expenditure/cost recovery.
- Implement programme monitoring and evaluation processes according to grant commitments and IWPR strategy, including assessment against IWPR standards, grant requirements and key performance indicators.
- Ensure articles are commissioned from local journalists and edited under the direction of the Editorial Department.
- Ensure the training of local participants as part of IWPR’s projects.
- Ensure the management of local staff and offices.
- Oversee the writing and sending of monthly narrative and financial reports on all the activities of IWPR in Country.
- Promote IWPR’s output from throughout Country to local and regional media, for republication, and to keep up to date records of this in accordance with Programmes Department specifications.
- Represent IWPR to local donors, editors, NGOs, government and international organizations and to lead IWPR’s local fundraising activities.
Requirements:
- Experience managing media development programmes/ large-scale media components within aid projects.
- Recent media management experience, at a senior level with recognised international company or public institution.
- Proven financial management skills, having recently directed multi-million dollar/ euro programs.
- Proven ability to conclude key tasks to the satisfaction of donors.
- Proven ability to establish strong and constructive working relationships with local media professionals and interest groups within countries of expertise.
- Ability to work in remote areas, providing timely reports, to the donor and their own organisation.
- Ability to working in multi ethic environment; capability to achieve results in complex, difficult environments and work effectively with multi ethnic teams.
- Commitment to working in areas of conflict/ post conflict.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new environments.
