The ministry of electricity said power cuts increased in Baghdad and other provinces because of shortages in generating electricity and acts of sabotage. The ministry announced that one of the operating units had completely shut down. The ministry also said that the main reason was that some provinces like Nasiriyah and Basra took more electricity than they were allotted and used Baghdad's share, which caused long hours of cut power in the capital.
